     The Desert Sands Unified School District includes 14 elementary schools, four of which serve Palm Desert. The other primary schools serve Bermuda Dunes, Indian Wells, Indio and La Quinta.

     At the middle school level, city students attend Palm Desert Middle School.

     At the secondary level, Palm Desert students attend Palm Desert High School. About 78 percent of students graduate, about 5 percent below the state average. Also, 35 percent of the students take part in vocational education, about 7 percent below the state average 42.7 percent, according to 1995-96 state statistics.

     Palm Desert residents also have access to Continuation schools. La Familia and Amistad offer continuation programs, each serving the entire district. Adult education programs are offered at the Palm View School campus.
