The Palm Springs Unified School District includes 12 elementary schools, four of which serve various parts of Palm Springs. The other primary schools serve Cathedral City, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage and Thousand Palms.

At the middle school level, Raymond Cree Middle School serves the entire city.

At the secondary level, Palm Springs High School currently serves the city and Desert Hot Springs. In the fall of 1998, the new Desert Hot Springs High School will open, serving students in the northwestern part of the Coachella Valley.

About 87 percent of the students graduate from Palm Springs High School, about 4 percent higher than the state average. Also, 46.4 percent of the students take part in vocational education, slightly above the state average 42.7 percent, according to 1995-96 state statistics.

Palm Springs residents also have access to Continuation and Adult Education. Mount San Jacinto and Las Brisas offer continuation programs, while Palm Springs Community and Palm Springs Adult provide adult education programs. Las Brisas serves Desert Hot Springs; the other three schools serve the entire district.
